UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY FIRST COMMITTEE: DISARMAMENT AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY (GA-1:DISEC)

United Nations General Assembly the First Committee: Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is one of the fundamental bodies of the United Nations since it is one of the six General Assembly Committee of the United Nations. DISEC focuses on finding solutions involving disarmament efforts and questions that are related to be a treat toward international security. DISEC takes into consideration, agenda items ranging from conflict dealing with non-proliferation of biological and chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction to illicit weapon trading, and strengthening security co-operations in respective regions.

 

According to the Charter of the United Nations, all members and observers have representatives in DISEC with equal representation as well as equal votes for Member States. The Committee cannot impose sanctions nor pass a binding resolution as similar with other five General Assembly Committees.

 

According to Article 26 of United Nations Charter, DISEC’s mandate is “to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security with the least diversion for armaments of the world’s human and economic resources.” Delegates in this committee will have the most inestimable mission in this world, maintaining peace within disarmament.

Agenda Item B: Possible Challenges to Space Security and Sustainability

 

This committee is apt for both inexperienced and experienced delegates.
