RUSSIAN REVOLUTIONS 1917

"No great movement has ever been inaugurated without bloodshed.”

Karl Marx

Russia has experienced a strenuous period of tremendous change in 1917. Russia was a country that had been ruled by Romanov Dynasty for decades was now to replace this long-lasting monarchy with unprecedented revolutions. Russian Duma was the power in charge at that time; however, Russian people were not content with this government that was unable to remove the poverty that the Great War had brought. This unpopular Duma, dominated by Russian aristocrats, was also taking decisions that were making the internal economic and social situation in Russia much worse. By many people in this agricultural economy, socialism were seen as a quick solution for these long-lasting problems. The Bolshevik Party, later led by Vladimir Lenin, was promising this change for Russia and was determined to alter the political system as a whole.

It was not easy even to spark this kind of a change in a place where there were powerful aristocrats ruling low-class people whose were constrained with a thick veil of ignorance. In addition, Russian Army was very far away from the glory of its past, sustaining the injury of the Great War. Will the seizure of power be succeeded without blood by Bolsheviks and will the seeds of the Soviet Union be planted? Participants in the committee will have the chance to observe the creation of a later “superpower” and to construct the foundation of it, militarily and ideologically.
